Architecture Overview:

As an outcome of the Master Plan, the existing Physical Therapy Department needed to be relocated to make way for the consolidation of services for other departments. Space was located on the existing hospital campus where a small addition to an existing building allowed for adequate expansion of the physical therapy department. A separate entry/waiting/reception area was created along with gymnasium space and private treatment bays. This small but pivotal relocation was completed in May 2008 and immediately followed by construction of a new Emergency Department and renovation of the existing Imaging Department. The taller massing, full height corner curtain wall system and large cantilevered entry canopy, all help to identify the new entry to the emergency department. Additional site and paving improvements added a dedicated patient drop-off zone. Functionally, two trauma rooms were created along with a centralized control/nurse station, tree exam rooms and a dedicated emergency waiting area with three sides of ribbon windows for abundant natural lighting.
